Celebration of Life---

Barbara K. Horner, born in Toledo, Ohio on March 14, 1931, to Fred and Laurabelle Kiemle, went home to be with Jesus on December 7, 2025, at the age of 94 in Houston, Texas.

Barbara graduated from DeVilbiss High School in Toledo and attended National University of Mexico and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

She loved the Lord, along with her husband of 47 years, John (Jack) Horner, and her three children. She also loved everywhere she lived, from Toledo, Mexico City, New York City, St. Louis, Charlotte, Tampa and Dallas, to name a few.

Barbara also found great joy as a stewardess/flight attendant with American Airlines; as a teacher; tutor; sales representative; tour director with Dan Dipert Tours visiting all 50 states; Calligraphy instructor; inspirational speaker; Stephen Minister; member/officer of numerous book clubs, bridge clubs, gourmet clubs, newcomer groups, neighborhood associations, and Sunday School and Bible Study classes.

She was a marvelous storyteller but even more remembered for her desire to hear others’ stories and accomplishments, cheering them on to even greater achievements. She made everyone feel noticed and loved and reminded them to make memories and enjoy life every day.

Barbara’s zeal and insatiable curiosity for life, her fun, adventurous spirit, her “have toothbrush will travel” spontaneous attitude, will be missed by many. Now she’s enjoying the greatest adventure of all, one that will never end!

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.  She is survived by her brother, Fred Kiemle of Lancaster, PA, sister-in-law Joan Williams Poole of Mooresville, NC, and her three children: Laura Horner, John Horner (wife Irene), Brian Horner (wife Karen); grandchildren: Jodene (Wesley), Jackie (Luke), Margaret, Caroline; great-grandchildren, Mya, Eva, Harper, Hazel, Wrenley, and many nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and many friends.

Memorials may be directed to www.1000hills.org in Houston to assist those struggling in poverty, homelessness, addiction and despair.

Interment to be at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a date yet to be determined.
