A simple man who did not require much, just the love of his family and friends.

Bobby Gene Tyson departed this life March 26, 2025 surrounded by family and friends. He was born December 27, 1961 in Houston to Robert Lee Tyson and Erma Gene Hobbs. Bobby was a simple man who didn't require much. He was easy to like and love. Family and friends were most important to Bobby. He treasured all of his relationships. He often gave nicknames to those he cared about. He was also given nicknames such as Bobster and Bobby Bologna.

Bobby would say that one of his proudest accomplishments was becoming sober in 2004 through the Salvation Army. He remained sober for the next 21 years. The Salvation Army is also where he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal saviour and gave glory to him everyday. Because of the impression he made on the staff there, he was offered a job as a facilities maintenance worker and remained in their employment for 19 years. In the earlier years, Bobby played Santa Claus to the children at the Family Residence. A job he did not mind doing at all.

On April 16, 2005, Bobby was introduced through a mutual friend to Anne Boyd Armstrong. They fell in love quickly and were married September 16, 2006. Bobby and Anne enjoyed weekend trips to San Antonio, day trips to the Strand in Galveston, antiquing, attending concerts, and yearly trips to Oklahoma and Washington to visit children and grandchildren who lived out of state. They also love and adore their fur babies Sparky and Charlie who miss him so much.

Bobby was an avid sports fan who was loyal to the Oilers, Texans, Astros, and Texas Longhorns. He loved to give his children Deanna and Wes, who both attended the University of Oklahoma a hard time during the annual Longhorns/Sooners games. He often had to swallow his words.

Bobby was predeceased by his parents, his Uncle Harold Hobbs, his cousin Darrel Hobbs, and his father - in -law Ashley F. Boyd. He is survived by his beloved wife Anne Tyson, children Deanna VanGunda (Steve) and Wesley Tyson. His bonus children: John Armstrong Jr., Amanda Gentry (Elliot), Brandon Morton, and special daughter Deanna Armstrong. His grandchildren Jude McMath and Scarlett McMath. His bonus grandchildren: Trianna Jones, John Armstrong III, Alyson Armstrong, Gannon Greenan, and Dylan Gentry. His sisters Velma Nash (John) and Beverly Doyle (Larry). He is also survived by his Aunt Doris and cousins whom he considered more as brothers, Harold Hobbs, Wesley Hobbs, Mike Hobbs, Glen Briddle, and childhood friend Philip Lucas. His mother-in-law Alice A. Boyd and several other friends and family. Rest easy Bobby in God's glorious presence. Until we meet again.
