Dave was reunited with his parents, Jay and Ruth, on April 10, 2025.

He’s survived by his late wife, Michele Marano; his son, Kevin Jay Hopkins, fiancée, Christina Byrne-Heeth, and grandson, Cody David Hopkins; his son, Michael David Hopkins, wife, Kayla Witmer Hopkins, and grandchildren, Apollo and Aurora Hopkins; his sister, Margie Gara; his nieces, Denise Gara and Amy Banks, along with Amy's husband Spc. Andrew Banks and grandniece Kiera Banks; and his best friends, Amy Fischer and Ronald Liston, and by Amy's daughter, Stella Peña, whose loyalty and love meant the world to him, as well as many beloved friends and extended family.

Dave was a renowned businessman, captain, dad, entrepreneur, grandfather, husband, and sailor.
