Mementos

Life is short and we do not have much time to gladden the hearts of those who travel with us, so be swift to love, make haste to be kind and go in peace to love and serve the Lord.

This obituary was written by my Father and I have for the most part copied his handwritten (in pencil) words here with only a little added.  I want you to see his words, just know that he was a good man with many interests and gifts to this world he lived in. I and many others loved him very much.

Attended Northwestern State College for 2 years and graduated from Louisiana Tech in 1958 with a BS degree in Business Administration

He loved basketball and continued playing during his college days and into his 2 years (1958-1960) service with the US Army

From 1958-1960, Ed spent with US Army Signal Corps being assigned to The White House Signal Agency.  He was especially thankful of the opportunity he had serving in the White House and later spending 15 months at the Presidential Retreat at Camp David, MD.  While at Camp David, Ed was able to spend 26 days on the island of Hawaii accompanying President Eisenhower in June 1960 on his last mission to the Far East.  Ed received The White House Service Certificate for his service in The White House. He returned to Lake Charles and retired from Firestone Synthetic Rubber Plant after 35 1/2 years as Traffic Manager.

Ed loved his family and especially the many weekends with his kids and grandkids at "The Camp" on Bundicks Lake.  He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, traveling to the "Brown Reunions" and watching his family grow.

Nothing is more important in your later years than to have a truly good friend.  Ed believed in that and loved his friend Micky Kimball(deceased).  Ed wanted to put this in his obituary.

Ed helped coach little league baseball & 5 years coaching city league basketball from 3rd through 7th grade.  His 5, 6, 7 grade teams were city champs.
