Gary Wayne Sissell

On Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 11:55 pm, Gary Sissell left this world. After a long struggle with complex health issues, he is no longer suffering.

 

Gary spent his last day in peace surrounded by loved ones. He took his final breath with his wife Nita by his side. 

 

Gary Wayne Sissell was born March 10, 1954 to Koy and Jo Ann Sissell. He grew up with his younger sisters Lisa Jo and Ginger Ann. 

 

Gary was always larger than life. He lived his big life hard and to the fullest, completely using up his body.

 

He loved his wife, Nita, his children, Tommy and Molly, and he adored all of his grandchildren.

 

Gary loved music and couldn't get enough of going to see Leon Russell live in concert - all over the country. In doing that, Gary became part of a second family, the LeonLifers. For 17 years, he and his wife thoroughly enjoyed following Leon from town to town, showing up in some of the most obscure places. 

 

For years this second family called him "Too Damn Big", describing his size, addictive personality, and love all with one phrase.
