December 20th, 1942 - May 6th, 2026
Indescribable strength. Unconditional love. Irresistible smile.
Loraine "Laurie" Kimmell, born on December 20, 1942, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was a beacon of love and inspiration, whose unwavering spirit touched everyone she met. Laurie passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, in Spring, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, determination, and devotion.
A proud graduate of Scottsdale High School, Class of 1960, Laurie dedicated her life to her family and community. She was married to her beloved husband, Doyal, for an incredible 66 years. Their partnership was a testament to love's enduring power, and they shared a life filled with joy, laughter, and shared dreams.
Laurie wore many hats throughout her life — as a devoted military spouse for 20 years, a full-time mom, and a highly valued contributor in both Accounting and SAAS (Software as a Service) sectors. Her professional journey was marked by her exceptional work ethic and unwavering commitment, making her a role model for many.
Her personality shone brightly, described by those who knew her as kind, caring, and compassionate. Laurie had a remarkable ability to make others feel valued and loved. Her circle of friends was a testament to her loving nature, having built deep, lifelong connections that enriched her journey. Throughout her life she cultivated a rich tapestry of interests — quilting, gardening, and boating. A lover of travel and adventure, she particularly cherished moments spent aboard cruise ships with family and friends.
Laurie's true joy came from her family — her children Mark (now deceased), Cassie and husband Scott, David and wife Kristin; grandsons JB and wife Amy, Matt and wife Cassie Marie, Rion and partner Tiff; and great-grandchildren Jake, Tuck, Rue, and Paisley were her pride and joy. She cherished the time spent playing games, solving jigsaw puzzles, and creating lasting memories that her family will carry forward. Her strength, steadfastness, and selflessness were qualities that will remain in the hearts of her loved ones.
As we remember Laurie, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of faith in Christ, and rich with love and adventure. Friends and family are invited to honor her memory at a ceremony held at Grand Oaks Church, located at 3945 Woodson’s Reserve Parkway, Spring, TX on Friday, August 14th, 2026, at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210-4486 or online at MDAnderson.org/Gifts. Laurie's legacy of love and dedication will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
