David "Dave" Willard McGuffey

The family of David “Dave” Willard McGuffey is deeply saddened to announce his passing on April 11, 2026.  Born on July 1, 1948, in Waco, Texas, to Joseph “Joe” Marion Blakney McGuffey & Dosca “Dot” McGill McGuffey, Dave lived a life filled with tasty beverages, generosity, and love for the outdoors.  He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas Tech University in 1971 and was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity (Epsilon-Phi Chapter).  Dave began his career with American Hospital Supply Corporation as a pathology equipment salesman, transferring to Dade Behring (a division of AHSC), which later merged with Baxter Laboratories, Inc.  He spent his retirement years fishing & golfing until his spinal stenosis (lumbar) could no longer support those activities.  Competing with 4 Men and a Bar-B-Que for many years, he was passionate about perfecting the world’s best pork spare ribs.  Following the dissolution of that team, Dave played cowboy once a year and supported ETBW Memorial Cookers at their annual appearance benefiting the World's Championship Bar-B-Que Contest at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.  More importantly, Dave was a member of The Woodlands United Methodist Church; his faith was very important to him.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Debbie Gillum McGuffey of 39 years, his daughters, Michelle (Travis) Snyder and Kayla (Sean) Freymann, grandchildren, Emery Freymann and Wyatt Freymann, grand-fur dog, JJ Watt McGuffey, brother, Paul (Karen) McGuffey, cousins, nieces & nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews, and cherished friends.  A celebration of Dave’s life is forthcoming.
