George Wayne Skinger, aged 71, passed away on October 28, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with illness. Born on June 30, 1953, in Miami, Florida, George was a lifelong resident and beloved member of his community.

A man of remarkable talent in the construction industry, George was known not only for his skill but for the passion he brought to his craft. Beyond his work, he was an avid lover of the arts and the outdoors. His free time was often spent painting, camping, working leather, crafting wood, and solving puzzles—hobbies that showcased his creativity and love for hands-on pursuits.

For over two decades, George was a dedicated leader in the Boy Scouts of America, serving from 1996 until 2018, when his health began to decline. His commitment to scouting left an indelible mark on the lives of countless young men, teaching them skills, values, and resilience that would guide them throughout their lives.

George leaves behind a loving family who will carry forward his legacy. He is survived by his devoted wife, Michelle Skinger, and their five children: Benjamin Skinger, Douglas Skinger (Nataly), Rachael Kowallis (Kyle), Gregory Skinger (Camila), and Matthew Skinger. He was a proud grandfather to Hudson Kowallis and eagerly awaited the arrival of his next grandson, Isaac Skinger(Douglas & Nataly), due in the coming month. George is also survived by his siblings: brothers Mark Skinger and James Skinger, and sister Laura Kilbury. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Henry Skinger and Laura Ann Skinger.

George’s presence, his strength, and his love for family and community will be deeply missed. His memory will remain alive in the hearts of those he touched and through the many lives he inspired. ”
