Souvenirs

Bruce Lawrence White was born on August 21, 1950, to Cora Lee (Meroney) and Raymond Lawrence White in St. Louis, Missouri. He grew up in Granite City, Illinois where he discovered his lifelong love of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. His kids loved looking through his old report cards, where they discovered that their dad wasn’t exactly the model student he claimed to be!

After high school, Bruce enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country for several years. He later met his then wife, and together they moved to Spring, Texas, to start and raise their family. Bruce loved his children deeply and worked tirelessly to provide for them.

Early on in his working like, Bruce helped create the first leaf blower. Most of his career was spent as a machinist, then management at Oyo Geospace. Later, he explored other shops and even tried something completely new—mastering the art of espresso as a barista at Starbucks. He eventually returned to machining, working long hours of overtime well into his 60s.

Bruce enjoyed a few years of well-earned retirement, spending his time watching every sport he could, reading countless books, and caring for his wife. A avid fan, he especially loved cheering on the Astros and Texans.

After nearly two years battling cancer, Bruce passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quiet loyalty, and being a man of few words.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Claire A. White; children Rachel (Chris) Tally, Jonathan White, Megan (Dave) Chalifoux, and Fae (Jeff) Simms; grandchildren Addison and Cooper Tally, Hudson Brittain, and Jacob and Jason Chalifoux; stepmother Sheila White; brother Dwight White; sister Rochelle Menendez; stepbrother Donald Harrod; nephews Seth (Tylar) Harrod, Dominic and Roman Menendez; and Uncle Jerry White.

Bruce’s family is deeply grateful to all who have shown love and support to him over the years and now to them. They would love to continue hearing stories about Bruce.

Well done, good and faithful servant.
