Gloria Jean LaMere, 81, passed away from stage 4 lung cancer in the early hours of November 3rd, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 6th, 1943 in Poughkeepsie, NY to Henry Bober and Bertha Grey.
She loved pigs, puzzles, and word searches. She also loved long drives and walks with her family.
In her professional life, Gloria graduated from college as a nurse's aide and worked at Vassar Hospital, Baytown Nursing Home, Green Acres Nursing Home, and San Jacinto Methodist Hospital for 30 years.
Gloria married James LaMere Sr. in Red Hook, New York on May 18th, 1965 and they were blessed with three children: Corinna, James, and Pamela. After her separation from her husband in 1969, she relocated to Baytown, TX where she sometimes worked two to three jobs at a time to support her children as a single mother. Once she had grandchildren, she moved in with her daughter Pamela for added support becoming a constant in their lives as well for 33 years. Although she separated from her husband James, they remained legally married until his death in 2002.
Gloria is survived by her children Corinna McClurg, James LaMere Jr., Pamela Hammers, Connie Ouimette; grandchildren Michael McClurg, Tabatha Spacek, Faith LaMere, Sabrina Pearson, & Landen Hammers; 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her spouse James LaMere Sr.; parents Henry Bober & Bertha Grey; siblings Henry Akins & George Heiser.
Gloria will be remembered by her quirky sayings, humor, and her ability to show interest in her family's achievements no matter how big or small.
