When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure

José Bernardo Gómez, 81, of Sevilla Colombia, passed away on April 1, 2025. Born on May 9, 1943 in Sevilla Colombia to Bernardo Gomez and Concepcion Ceballos. He was a devoted husband to Margarita Angela Gomez and a loving father to Maria, Bernardo and Manuel.

Jose or Benny as he was known as, was hard-working and dedicated. He spent 55 years working in the hospitality industry, where he was known for his hard work and excellent customer service. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and his passions.

Though Benny may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to have his long years of fatherly love honored. He was a man of integrity, kindness, generosity, and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Benny’s hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He enjoyed bowling and playing cards with friends, often spending his weekends watching all kinds of sports such as soccer and football. His love for bowling was something he shared with his children, leaving a mark on us that will never fade.

He is survived by his wife Margarita, daughter Maria Moreland (Max Moreland), son Bernardo Gomez, son Manuel Gomez, grandson Enrique Calderon, grandson Ehren Moreland (Rose Moreland), grandson Anthony Gomez, grandson Gabriel Carvajal (Brooke Carvajal), grandson Ryan Moreland, granddaughter Lauren Hetano (Chris Hetano), granddaughter Juliana Carvajal, granddaughter Khyla Moreland, great granddaughter Whitley Carvajal, great grandson Chandler Carvajal, great granddaughter Ember Moreland, great granddaughter Kharsyn Fletcher, great grandson Landon Hetano, brother Alberto Gomez (Gladys Zapata), as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

A funeral service will be held on April 12, 2025 at 2:00pm at St Justin Martyr Parish, 13350 Ashford Point Drive, Houston, TX 77082.

We find comfort in knowing that Benny’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
