Tonya Renee Niles (Carter)

Tonya Renee Niles (Carter), 49, of Houston, Texas, passed away on October 26, 2025.

Tonya was born August 9, 1976 in Houston, Texas to Tina Marie Carter (Ivey) and Arthur Marshall Carter Jr.She was formerly married to Seth Niles with whom she had two children.

 

Her journey in life was not a simple or easy one and she faced many hardships in later years. She made choices that those who loved her may never understand.But those who will remember can all agree that she was best known for her headstrong nature and stubborn streaks. These were qualities that made her fiercely independent, even though at times hard to reach. Though she could be described as rough around the edges, she deeply cared for her family and loved ones. Often recalling stories from years past or picking up conversations right were they left off.And though she has left this world before she could see the potential everyone saw in her, the family asks that she is remembered for the tenderness, wit, and humor that laid beneath her guard.And that, even in grief, we ask ourselves to never let an opportunity for growth or greatness pass us by. We will carry her potential with us.

 

Tonya is survived by her father, Marshall Carter; Her children Travis and Jevan Niles; Her half-sisters Tara Naipo (Carter), Sara Carter, and Kayla Carter; And her half-brother Joey Mize.She is preceded in death by her mother Tina Marie Ivey (then Mize); and her half-sister Kristi Mize.

 

The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of charitable contributions to Harbor Hospice/Harbor Foundation, for their kindness and readiness to house and care for her. The family hopes that they may continue their honorable work for others in need.
