It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our belovedDesmond Lloyd Higgins, who was sent to his eternal home on September 18,2025, at the age of 80. Born on June 1, 1945, in Ocho Rios, Jamaica,Desmond was a proud Jamaican man whose vibrant spirit and impeccablesense of style left an impression on everyone he met. He was a belovedbrother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle.

Desmond was fondly known by multiple nicknames.

 

He was a shining light inthe lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was energetic,strong, and full of youthful vigor. His journey on this earth was one markedby unwavering love, kindness, and joy. He radiated joy and laughter in everyspace he entered. His sudden passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We askthat you remember him for the profound impact his life had on the lives ofthose who had the pleasure to meet him. He greeted everyone with kindnessand love. Giving them a simple kind word to brighten their day.

 

Known for his sharp dressing and natural confidence, Desmond carriedhimself with dignity and grace. Whether attending family gatherings,community events, or simply walking through the neighborhood, heexemplified self-respect, pride, and a joyful presence. His laughter, warmsmile, and words of encouragement uplifted family and friends alike.

 

Desmond is survived by three siblings: Lydia Davis, Eunise Turner, andNewton Higgins. His ex-wife: Sylvia Marsh, children: Claudia Higgins-Lewis,Lavern Higgins-Pintard, Micheal Higgins, Natalie Smith-Sykes, Litany Smith-Walsh. Grandchildren: Veronica Pintard-Archer, Delroy East, Arturo Pintard,Mia Higgins, Jquan Pecoo, Tatianna Pecoo, Dellon Walsh, Dream Walsh.Great-Grandchildren: Remi East, Kaleb East, Leanna Archer, who will forevercherish his memory and the lessons he imparted about self-pride, love, andliving life to the fullest.

A celebration of Desmond’s life will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, atNew Birth Community Church: 2703 Ralston St., Houston, TX 77026,beginning at 11:00am. All who knew him are invited to join in honoring hisremarkable life.

 

Though he is gone from our sight, Desmond’s legacy of confidence, style,and love will live on in our hearts forever. Thank you everyone for yourthoughts and prayers for Desmond and the Higgins Family!
