Joan M. Duda, 76, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loved ones, on May 20, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Joan was born on December 28, 1949, in Syracuse, to the late Peter and Thressa Duda. She was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Duda-Bishop, and bonus sons, Frank Lynch & Franklin Woodward.

She is survived by her children: Tiffany (Austin T.) Moore Jr. of NY; Madona (Chad) Piurowski of NC; and KaTrenda (Henry) Dent of TX. She is also survived by the father of her children, Frank Woodward (Anita) of NY. Brother-in-love: Gerald Bishop of FL. Her beloved grandchildren: ZiaShaun, Quindell, M’Neesia & JaNeia Moore, JaCorey, Abriella & Jazizan Dent; Her great-grandchildren: ZyMani, NeiElli & NeiKo, Saishaa, and Sevion, along with bonus great-grands LeTrae and London.

Joan retired from the Syracuse Developmental Center (NYS OPWDD) after 30 years of dedicated service and commitment. She cherished spending time with family and friends, loved animals, enjoyed garage sales and flea markets, and had a passion for good food & traveling. One of her most memorable experiences was participating in a mission trip to Nicaragua with Church of Motion in Sarasota.

For the most of her life, Joan - JDudes - was a “bonus mom” to many, as her daughters were always bringing friends home for her to love and care on. She also leaves behind a host of extended family and dear friends whose lives she touched deeply.

Thank you to each and every person who prayed, donated, called, texted, or offered kind words and thoughts during this difficult time. Every gesture of love, support, and compassion was deeply appreciated and truly meant so much to our family.
