  John Joseph Engel II, 65, passed away on November 3, 2024 in Conroe, Texas.

  A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on November 23, 2024 at Mims Baptist Church with Dr Jerry Chaddick officiating.

  John was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to Richard Engel & Faith(Karczewski) on June 20, 1959.   John’s, mother, carried him home from the hospital in his Dad’s size 10 hat.  John attended Oshkosh West High School up until his junior year; due to his parents work, he finished high school in Michigan, graduating from Marlette High School in 1978.  John & Carol met on Match dot com in October 2001 after five months he married Carol Starr on March 9, 2002 in Texarkana, Arkansas. He retired from MSI Oilfield Products in 2015. He was apart of the Media Team at Mims Baptist Church and a member of The Gideons International.

  John is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Engel & Faith(Karczewski); his son, Richard Engel; his great-grand-babies, Ren Lakota and Estrella Mitra; and his nephew, David Engel.

  John is deeply missed and survived by his wife, Carol; his children, Emil ElWard, Jacob ElWard, Whitney Dungey (Seth), Erica Silvas,  Courtney Presa, John Engel III(Mitzi), Megan Barbee(Kevin), & Matthew Engel(Ashley); his brother, Michael Engel(Cherria) and sister, Cathie Nieto(Larry); along with over 400 foster brothers & sisters(John’s parents were the first group home parents in the state of Wisconsin where they lived in the old Governor’s mansion);his in-laws, Robert Starr(Linda), Pauline Hermann(Fred), Thomas Henry, Kenneth Starr, Timothy Starr(Lisa), Aunt Adrena, cousins - Lisa, Denise (Lee), and Duwane (Sarah); his grandchildren, Ealiesia, Kenneth, Emily, Olivia, Penelope, Annzeleigh, Miranda(Zackery), Danielle (Jacob), Lucy, and Madelyn; his great grandchildren; Lyrra, Elijah, and Kenai.  His nephews, Steven Engel(Kari), Andrew Engel, & Carl Engel; Aunt Madelon Button, friend, Susan Williard along with many other beloved family members as well as his church family; his Life GRP family as well as his fur babies, Pepper, Cookie, Luna, Toastie, and Willow.

  In honor of our dearest John, donations can be made to Samaritan's Purse, The Gideons International, and/or Mims Baptist Church of Conroe, Texas.
