Ways you can honor Kerry's memory:
Your love for family was as strong as the roar of an engine, and your spirit will race through our hearts forever. You’ve crossed the finish line, but your legacy lives on in every laugh, every memory, and every mile we travel without you.
**Kerry Louis Speyrer**
May 3, 1952 – November 9, 2024
Kerry Louis Speyrer, 72, of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away on November 9, 2024, at 4:16 p.m., surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 3, 1952, to Jean Alvin Speyrer and Margaret Emelda Menard, Kerry was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose warmth, humor, and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him.
Kerry is survived by his two daughters, Lana Lawrence, and Kasey Speyrer Blanchard; seven grandchildren, Kenzi, Alex, Adam Jr., Zachary (Dub), Angelina, Abigayle, and Eli; five great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Kali, Kamila, Mylo, and River, and many nieces & nephews, all of whom he adored deeply. He is also survived by his four sisters, Mary Rowe, Wanda Coker, Janice Tyler, and Bridget Rives. He was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Melody Nakari Johnson. His legacy lives on through his family, whom he cherished deeply.
A man of great character, Kerry spent 20 years managing the U.S. operations for a global wire and cable company, where he became more than a colleague – he became part of the extended family. He took great pride in his work, and his leadership and commitment made an impact that will be remembered for years to come. Though he had dreams of traveling the world in retirement, Kerry's health ultimately kept him closer to home. However, he found joy in the moments that mattered most – like conquering cancer earlier this year and making a special trip to the NHRA Fall Nationals in Dallas, a weekend he felt alive with the "rumble in his tummy." It was a testament to his strength and determination that, despite setbacks, he remained committed to living life to its fullest.
Kerry's love for his family was matched only by his passion for adventure. He spent countless hours building and tinkering with RC cars and working on his own vehicles. His love for cars and racing was something he shared with his children, often taking them to drag races and on long, meandering drives down country roads, where the journey itself was as important as the destination. He had a knack for getting lost – on purpose – and it was those spontaneous, carefree moments that his family will remember most. A celebration of Kerry’s life will be held after the holidays, more details to follow.
Kerry Louis Speyrer may be gone, but his legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew him. Rest in peace, Kerry – you will be deeply missed.
