Souvenirs

Louis Stephen Turner, beloved brother, devoted servant of God, and faithful follower of Jesus Christ, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord on January 13, 2026, in Spring, Texas just days before his 68th birthday. He was born on January 18, 1958, in Passaic, New Jersey to his loving parents, Marlys McEntire and Joseph Turner, both of whom preceded him in death.

Louis lived a life marked by deep faith, creativity, service, and love for family. As a child, he experienced a unique and adventurous upbringing, growing up in Thailand and Panama before returning to the United States to settle in St. Louis, Missouri. During his time in Thailand, Louis discovered and nurtured a remarkable talent for ventriloquism. In one of the most memorable moments of his young life, he performed a ventriloquist act with his beloved dummy, Steve, for the King of Thailand—an experience he treasured and often spoke about with joy.

Creativity was woven into the fabric of Louis’s life. His passions included ventriloquism, barbecuing for friends and family, art, editing, writing, graphic design, and composing political poetry that reflected his convictions. He had a sharp mind, a thoughtful voice, and a gift for communicating truth with both clarity and compassion.

Louis pursued his calling to ministry at Christian Heritage College, where he studied for his pastoral degree. His relationship with God and His Son, Jesus Christ, was the cornerstone of his life. He was bold in his witness, sharing the Gospel with individuals from all walks of life. He ministered faithfully in prisons in San Diego, California, and Houston, Texas, bringing hope, encouragement, and the message of salvation to those who needed it most. A servant leader at heart, Louis was steadfast in spreading the Word of God and standing firm in his faith.

Among his favorite scriptures was Isaiah 54:17:"No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord."This verse reflected his unwavering trust in God’s protection, justice, and faithfulness.

Louis worked at General Dynamics NASSCOshipyard in beautiful San Diego, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. He also contributed his talents to a political media website as a writer, editor, and graphics artist, combining his creative gifts with his passion for truth and civic engagement.

He is lovingly survived by his sister, Marjorie; his brother-in-law, Dustan; his two nephews, Daniel and Joseph; and his cherished niece, Faith. As well as his great niece Josie, and great nephew Oliver. He was a devoted brother and uncle whose presence brought wisdom, humor, spirited conversation, and steadfast love to family gatherings.

Though deeply missed, Louis’s family rejoices in the assurance of his eternal life with the Lord he so faithfully served. His legacy of faith, creativity, courage, and devotion will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
