Murrel "Boots" Marie Phillips

We sadly announce the departure of Murrel Marie (Boots) Phillips spirit from her earthly body on June 30, 2026 in Houston,Tx. where she resided. She loved the LORD with all her heart. She was a loving and strong mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an only child and determined early she would have many children by her choice of reasoning and taught her children the love of CHRIST. A single mother who had a beautiful singing voice and her dream was to become a country singer, but instead she worked four jobs to raise six children. She love to sing , play the piano, dance, crochet, crosswords books, paint, puzzles, cooking, baking, spending time with family and friends. Her favorite songs were Amazing Grace, JESUS Loves Me, You are my Sunshine, Cotton Fields Back Home, and Sugar Sugar. She loved all of her children ,grands, and greats by devoting much of herself to them and made sure they were taken care of. She loved celebrating everyone's Birthday and individually called each one on their special day to personally sing her version to them. Distance never stopped her with her love of QVC and the shopping channel, you would for sure be getting a present and a birthday cake delivered to you or In person. She was always there for each and everyone regardless of the situation and would speak her mind openly and fearlessly.

She had some hard periods of life ,but that never stopped her from achieving what she needed and wanted to do . She never backed down from a challenge and always finished what she started. 

 

Murrel is preceded in her departure by her Father Elton Merle Phillips, Mother Mildred Marie Burgess-Phillips, Grandfather John Langston-Burgess and Grandmother Maggie Young-Burgess Porteau (Who helped raised her), Daughters Sharon Evette Gore and Julie Marie Dukes-Gore, Baby Gore #5 (Miscarriaged in 1969)

 

She is survived by her Son Robert Wayne Gore(Jennifer)of DeRidder La . Daughter Lisa Lynette Gore-Hoffpauir(Karl) of DeRidder La., Daughter Katherine Denise Gore(Ricky) of Lake Charles La. Daughter Angela Dawn Phillips-Ceasar of Houston TX .Many grandchildren and great grandchildren all of whom she loved immensely. 

 

Although we are sad of her departure,we rejoice in her spirits homecoming knowing she is always with us and free from earthly suffering. One single child's destiny fulfilled on this earth and her legacy carries on with the six she birthed, cared for, and their offspring.
