Anthony "Tony" Pete Scanlin, Jr.

Tony Scanlin, 70, of Willis, Texas, passed away on July 30, 2025.

 

Tony was born on November 12, 1954, in Houston, Texas, to Tony Scanlin Sr. and Barbara Lane. He built a successful career in thermoplastics, founding his own business before eventually selling it to the company where he would continue working as a dedicated and valued employee for the remainder of his professional life.

 

Tony is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Daly Scanlin of Willis, TX; daughter Cailine Nicole Templeton (Jason) of Aubrey, TX; son Cody James Scanlin of Houston, TX; granddaughter Addison Mae Templeton; grandson Colton James Templeton; mother Barbara Lane (Dale) of Centerville, TX; brother Mike Scanlin of Katy, TX; sister Jeannie Scott of Tomball, TX; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Pete Scanlin Sr., and brother, Pat Scanlin.

 

After retiring in 2021, Tony fulfilled a lifelong dream with Sharon - settling on Lake Conroe, where he spent his days fishing to his heart’s content. Few things brought him more joy than taking his grandchildren out on the water. Tony embraced the simple pleasures Texas offered: time with family, days spent hunting and fishing, and quiet evenings at home. He was also an avid coin collector and loved a good Excel spreadsheet.

 

Tony will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his unwavering kindness, his willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need, his love for the Houston Astros, and his sly sense of humor.

 

A celebration of Tony’s life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at The American Legion Post 560, 3720 Alba Rd, Houston, TX 77018. Friends and loved ones are warmly invited to attend. The reception hall will open at 1:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. A catered meal will be provided, and a cash bar will be available following the service.
