Carl John Luning
October 11th, 1968 - August 6th, 2026
October 11th, 1968 - August 6th, 2026
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?’” John 11:25-26
Carl John Luning, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend went home to Jesus on August 6th, 2026 at the age of 57.
Carl was born to parents Johnny and Gay Luning on October 11, 1968, in Waco, Texas. As a child, he was curious about the world around him and how things worked. Between the backyard garden and family land, Carl always found himself an adventure.
He married Rosemary, the love of his life and high school sweetheart, on December 23, 1989, who survives him. He is also survived by daughter, Analisa Victoria Goldblatt (and husband Nathaniel); grandchildren, James and Daniel; parents, Johnny and Gay Luning; brother, Kenneth Luning (and wife Jennifer); mother-in-law, Faye Neale; brother-in-law, Shannon Neale; and countless other family members and friends who deeply loved him.
Carl earned a Laser Electro-Optics degree from Texas State Technical College and spent his career doing what he loved most—helping the people around him. His success was built on hard work and a passion for making things better than they were before.
An outdoorsman through and through, Carl loved hunting, fishing, fixing things, and spending time at his family’s land in Crawford and Hearne, Texas. His happy place was in an outdoor reclining chair in the middle of the woods with his brother, Kenneth, and cousin, Michael Luning. Carl loved good coffee and dreamed of running a roastery. This dream came true in 2020 when he and Rosemary opened Neon Moon Coffee Roasters in Burton, Texas.
Carl will be remembered for his generous heart, welcoming spirit, and ability to make friends in any room he entered. While his absence leaves an immeasurable void in his family and community, we find comfort in the hope of Christ’s resurrection and the assurance that we will one day be reunited in God’s eternal kingdom.
His memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Bethany Christian Church in Burton, Texas. Carl felt it was his duty to support the great veterans in our country, so the family asks that people make donations in support of Camp Hope in lieu of sending flowers.
