Gone from this earth, but not from our hearts.

Bruce Jay DeAngelo was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi on January 7, 1947 to JV DeAngelo and Jean Lillian Gladys Bruce DeAngelo.  His father was in the Navy and he travelled often, but they ended up setting roots in Gulfport, Mississippi, which he loved.  After high school graduation, he enlisted in the Navy.  He enjoyed those days aboard the USS Wainwright tremendously and spoke about them often.  He hated the low ceilings and shin knockers, but loved every day when they would test fire and even brought home a 3" brass shell.  When he was released with an Honorable Discharge, he came to Houston, Texas.  He met Sherri, the love of his life.  Sherri asked him to marry him on a Friday night and was so happy when he said "yes."  They went to the flea market the next day and bought 2 turquoise and silver rings for a whopping total of $14.70.  Sunday they celebrated their engagement with friends and family, and on Monday, they went to the Dr for the required blood test.  That Tuesday, June 14th 1977, they took off work at noon, went downtown to the courthouse and picked out a judge to marry them.  The judge they chose had an Italian name, and his administrative assistant was named Sherri - they took that as a good sign!  On March 17, 1979 their daughter, Maura Jean DeAngelo was born.  Three years later on April 8, 1982, Andy Jay DeAngelo was born.  Their family of four was complete and together grew to having not only an amazing life but bond no one could break.  Bruce and Sherri had a very happy life together and developed many hobbies that they both enjoyed - furniture refinishing, woodworking, stained glass, duck hunting, gardening, but their favorite above all was fishing.  He could and would out fish anyone except his father-in-law.  This became a family love and competition as Maura and Andy loved fishing just as much as Bruce and Sherri did.  Over the years, he was blessed to become a Grandpa to his granddaughter, Ava Lynn Tripicchio, and they had their own shenanigans and a very strong bond.  He was also blessed to welcome with open arms his son's love and new daughter-in-law, Libby DeAngelo.  He survived a heart attack in 1993 and was not expected to live but God graced us with 33 wonderful years and memories.  Sadly, his health was declining starting February 2026.  He went to the Cardiologist on April 15 and was advised to go immediately to the hospital.  This was his 3rd time in the hospital since February and his health never improved.  He transitioned to Hospice while in the hospital and we were able to bring him home on Wednesday, April 22.  He knew what was going on and acknowledged that Hospice was what he wanted.  He kept his sense of humor until the very end when he was peacefully led by Jesus to Heaven on April 27, 2026 at 5:06pm, with his wife and children by his side.  He was met at the gates of Heaven by his father JV DeAngelo, mother Jean Lillian Gladys Bruce DeAngelo, sister Stephanie Davis, his in-laws John and Sallie Minter, brother-in-law John M. Minter and his favorite pup Ruger.
