Jean "Foxy Red" Ann Hodson
March 23rd, 1956 - March 21st, 2026
March 23rd, 1956 - March 21st, 2026
Jean Ann Hodson
“Foxy Red” was born on March 23, 1956 in New Castle, Indiana and passed away on March 21, 2026 in Pasadena, Texas just two days shy of her 70th birthday.
Jean Ann will be remembered as a loving, caring and fierce mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to those who loved her. Jean was a mother to many and a friend to most. She loved to laugh and have a good time. To have known her was to be loved unconditionally. Nonjudgmental and always welcoming she raised her four children and became Mamma Jean to many of their friends over the years. She always had a place for you at the table, an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on and a mouth to set you straight when you needed it. She was known as the “cool aunt” to her many nieces and nephews and when it came to her grandchildren they knew she hung the moon (and that she felt the same way about them).
A graduate of Pendleton Heights High School, class of 1974, Jean didn’t waste time moving to Saginaw Michigan where her spunky and creative personality led her to pursue a career in cosmetology, something that she continued to do long after she had left the profession for her family and friends. She went on to pursue a new career as a surgical tech for many years and when her mother became ill she resigned from her position in Michigan and moved back home to Markleville, Indiana to help care for her mother until her passing in 2007.
After raising her children and taking care of her mother, Jean decided it was time for an exciting change and began working at Hoosier Park Casino. In 2010 with the arrival of her first granddaughter Jean Ann moved to Texas to be closer to her adult children and to spoil her new grandbaby. Being a mother was one of her greatest joys but becoming a grandmother was who she was meant to be. Over the years she would become a grandma to 12 and a great grandmother to 1. The love she had for them was palpable and when she spoke of them the light in her eyes brightened even more.
Jean was preceded in death by 2 of her granddaughters Ti'Mari Annette and Aiyana Serenity Rose', her parents W. Kenneth Hodson and Martha Hodson, and youngest brother Kenneth D. Hodson.
She is survived by her children Justin Hodson (Meagan), Altolvas Price, Lillian Price and Jacob Price. Her grandchildren LaJayrin, Jacy, Timothy, Eric, Margaux, Matea, Lindsey, Ashley, Timelia and Heaven and great granddaughter TiRyah. Her Sister, Karen Finke (Paul), Steve Hodson, Jerry Hodson (Rhonda), Marsha Hodson, and Kathleen Rhule (Phillip),as well as, many nieces and nephews.
Words from her children: “Momma you raised us to be who we are today we will forever love you.” -Your children.
May her wings spread wide and may she fly high in her free spirit. To be absent from the body means to be present with the Lord.
To my children:
My dear children, my heart’s own light,
And you, my grandchildren, shining so bright—
If these words find you when I am gone,
Know my love for you still carries on.
It was never bound by time or place,
Nor held within one warm embrace.
It lives in laughter, in quiet skies,
In every tear and each sunrise.
I have watched you grow, each brave and true,
And oh, how proud I’ve been of you.
In every step, in all you’ve done,
You’ve been my stars, my moon, my sun.
Carry no doubt of what you mean—
You are the best there’s ever been.
Not for perfection, not for fame,
But for your hearts that love the same.
Go where your spirit feels most free,
Be who you’re meant, so fearlessly.
Follow your joy, let it be your guide,
And wear your truth with humble pride.
When life feels heavy, dark, or long,
Listen close—you’ll hear my song.
In whispered winds, in gentle rain,
In love that softens every pain.
Though I no longer walk beside you here,
I am not distant—I am near.
In every memory, warm and bright,
In every dream that feels just right.
So live, my loves, with open hearts,
Be bold in dreams, in all your starts.
And never forget, come what may—
My love surrounds you, every day.
-Love Always- Mom/Grandma.
