“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions… I go to prepare a place for you.” – John 14:1-2
Floretta Knight was born on Tuesday, November 30, 1948, in Franklin, Alabama, to the late Josie Mae Kidd and Earl Robinson. On the morning of Wednesday, September 24, 2025, surrounded by love at a hospital in Houston, Texas, she peacefully gained her wings and went home to be with the Lord.
Floretta was a woman who loved the Lord with all her heart, and she walked in grace, strength, and quiet wisdom. Her faith was not just professed, but lived through her kindness, generosity, and the way she nurtured her loved ones. She was a pillar of strength to her family. Floretta had a gift for making others feel cherished. She gave her loved ones their flowers while she was here- with her words, her time, her warm meals, and her unwavering presence. Her love was intentional, and her care left lasting imprints on the hearts of all who knew her.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and compassion that will continue to inspire those she touched. Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice knowing she is resting in the external presence of the Lord she so dearly loved. Floretta’s life was centered on love for her family. She was blessed and survived by her six children, who are the pride of her heart: Linda (Lyonell) Pugh, Florence Davison, Jason Davison, Mark Knight, Tiffany Knight, and Terrance Knight.
Her joy multiplied through her beloved grandchildren: Brittany (Deraymond) Thomas, Courtney Pugh, Grant Martin, Cylister Crumb III, Javarion Crumb, Jamar Washington, Ramses Knight, Landon Knight, Marcus Knight, and Morgan Knight.
She also cherished her great-grandchildren: August Dior, Riley Pope, Kody Crumb, Logan Thomas, Melani Crumb, and JoLuka Crumb. Her love and influence extended to her nieces and nephews: Casey Kidd, Amir Lucas, Sherman Lee, Rasa Lee, Adriane Preyear, Thomas Kidd Jr., Teranni Kidd, Cedric Kidd, Sheena Wiggins, Marissa Kidd, LaPiffany Clark, Jaylen Clark, Julina Clark, Gregory Blocker II, Tristan Blocker, Silas Blocker, and Sadise Blocker.
She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings: Jewel Kidd Lucas, Arnetta Kidd, Melvin Kidd, Julia Kidd Clark, and Patricia Kidd Blocker. Floretta was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Davison. Her siblings Joyce Lee Horne and Jackie Kidd.
Floretta’s life was a testimony of faith, resilience, and devotion to family. She touched the lives of all who knew her with her warmth, kindness, and strength. Her memory will live on daily through those who love her.
In honor of Floretta’s memory, let us cherish the gift of family and friendship. May her passing remind us all to communicate more often, to check in on one another, and to show love while we have the time. Tomorrow is never promised, but today we can make it count by holding our loved ones close.
