Recuerdos

May he rest in peace and his kindness never be forgotten.

Miroslaw "Mirek" Wojtowicz, age 69, passed away suddenly on June 9, 2025, in Houston, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and love that will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Mirek was a beacon of kindness, a hard-working perfectionist, and a loving father and grandfather who touched the lives of those around him.

Born on May 15, 1956, in Babin, Poland, Mirek was raised with a deep appreciation for family, hard work, and the value of kindness. His character was shaped by these principles, which he carried with him throughout his life, spreading warmth and love to everyone he encountered. Mirek showed a keen intellectual curiosity from an early age. After graduating as valedictorian of his high school in Lublin, Poland, he pursued a degree in electrical engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology (Politechnika Warszawska). In 1980, Mirek relocated to the United States in search of future opportunities. He lived in Brooklyn and Chicago before settling in Houston, Texas, where he met Julia Acosta, with whom he shared 25 years of marriage. Mirek worked hard as a machinist and ran his own company, MW Manufacturing, Inc., for over 40 years.

Mirek cherished his family above all else. He was a devoted father to his three daughters Isabel Wojtowicz, Gabrielle W. Garza, and Alexandra Gunaratna, and a loving grandfather to Oliver Garza. Mirek's devotion to his family was unwavering, and he shared a special bond with his brother Szczepan Wojtowicz and his sister Alina Zydek. A man of varied interests and passions, Mirek traveled extensively, absorbing the cultures and experiences of the world. He maintained a keen interest in global events and nurtured a lifelong love of science. In his later years, Mirek turned his curiosity toward health news and travel videos, and he enjoyed biking as a hobby. To the end of his life, Mirek maintained his kind demeanor and positive outlook – traits which have left a mark on those who knew him.

Though his absence is profoundly felt, Mirek’s loving spirit will continue to live on forever in the hearts of his family and friends. Rest in peace, Mirek. Spoczywaj w pokoju.
