“Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it"

Kelly Jo Brown, born June 12, 1967, passed away on April 20, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by compassion, adventure, and a deep love for others.

Kelly dedicated much of her life to caring for people as a nurse, offering not just skill and knowledge, but genuine kindness to every patient she encountered. She also found deep fulfillment in working alongside her colleagues, building meaningful connections and sharing in the purpose of caring for others together. Her work was never just a job-it was a reflection of who she was: steady, generous, and quietly strong.

Beyond her profession, Kelly was a devoted mother and a cherished cousin and friend. Roles she carried with pride and warmth. Her family was at the center of her world, and she made sure those around her felt supported, seen, and loved.

Kelly also had a spirit that refused to stay in one place for long. She traveled the world, embracing new cultures, experiences, and perspectives. She believed deeply in living life to the fullest and often reminded others to “live life now”—a message she didn’t just say, but truly embodied.

She will be remembered for her caring heart, her adventurous soul, and the way she inspired others to appreciate the present moment. Kelly’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the memories she created, and the love she gave so freely.

She is survived by her daughters Kaitlin Pool of Houston, TX and Mikayla McAtee of Herrin, IL along with numerous Cousins, Aunts, Uncles and a multitude of friends who are her family.

She is proceeded in death by her parents James and Linda (Leeper) Burgess and her only sibling William “Billy” Burgess.

Per her wishes, Kelly will be cremated. In honoring her life, she encourages everyone to embrace each day and celebrate life to the fullest.
